Short terms for a small tool. Walt helps one household keep track of its home; using it means agreeing to the few things below.

Who we are

Walt is a service of Hey Walt, LLC, an Illinois limited liability company. “We” and “us” in these terms mean Hey Walt, LLC; “you” means the person using Walt. Questions about these terms go to support@heywalt.app, and letters to 2501 Chatham Rd #6149, Springfield, IL 62704, USA.

Who this is for

Walt is public but gated. Anyone can ask to join from the front page; a household is created only after an operator approves the request and emails a setup link. Once you are in, an organizer adds the rest of your household by invitation. Your household is the boundary of everything — your account, your data, and, one day, your bill all sit inside it.

Your sign-in

You sign in with your email — Walt sends a one-time link and code, no password. Keep your own inbox secure: anyone who can read your email can request a sign-in. Each device stays signed in on its own key, and you can revoke any device from your profile. An organizer in your household can remove your access at any time, and you are responsible for what is entered under your name.

Fair use

These are your family’s house records — use them as such. Do not store other people’s personal data here without their knowledge, do not try to reach another household’s data, and do not attack or abuse the service. A record outside your household is invisible to you by design; leave it that way.

Services you connect

When you link a calendar, a car, a thermostat, a hot tub, or a sensor, you are authorizing Walt to read it on your behalf, under that provider’s own terms. Walt does not change what they are allowed to do. You can disconnect any of them at any time, and the history already gathered stays with your household.

The assistant is a helper, not an authority

When the house brain is on, its estimates, plans, and answers are suggestions and can be wrong. You decide what to actually do — especially for anything touching safety, money, or a vehicle recall. Walt does not warrant the assistant’s output.

Provided as-is

Walt is offered for your household’s convenience, without warranty. There is no guarantee it is always available or free of errors, and it is not a security or monitoring system — even when it reads a sensor, do not rely on it to keep anyone safe.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Changes to these terms

If this document changes in a way that matters, its version — the date at the top — is updated, and organizers are asked to review and accept the new version. The version you accepted is recorded against your account.

Ending it

An organizer can delete the household whenever they like, from Settings → Data. That erases everything, permanently, and ends everyone’s access to it.

If the subscription is cancelled, the household turns read-only and we keep everything for one year, so resubscribing at any point in that year picks up where you left off. After the year, we erase the household and everything in it. Signed-in devices that go unused for 90 days are signed out and their sessions deleted.
